FIRST LOOK AT GUNNEDAH'S UPGRADED HOSPITAL
The countdown is on for the upgraded Gunnedah Hospital to welcome patients as the finishing touches are added to the $53 million development.
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson MP joined Minister for Health Ryan Park and Gunnedah Shire Mayor Colleen Fuller for a first look at the revamped facility.
“The Gunnedah community deserve a world-class hospital that delivers the services they need close to home,” Mr Anderson said.
“The upgrade includes a state-of-the-art emergency department, new birthing and maternity suites, a new inpatient unit, and a new main entry.
“We need more doctors and nurses in Gunnedah and this upgrade will not only improve patient care but will help attract and retain top health professionals looking for a modern workplace.”
Mr Anderson added that he was continuing to advocate for Stage 2 of the redevelopment to restore vital services cut from the original master plan.
“The Gunnedah community were promised chemotherapy and renal services as part of the original master plan for the hospital,” Mr Anderson added.
“I’ve been pushing to have those services reinstated ever since, and last year the government committed to bringing them back once funding becomes available.
“I’ve been working with the government to explore options for delivering those services and today was an opportunity to raise that with the Minister directly.
“I’ll keep working to make sure Gunnedah gets the healthcare it deserves.”
Hunter New England Health will be holding an open day on the 26th of November from 3-7pm for the Gunnedah community to tour the hospital. Register online at https://www.trybooking.com/DFZUV
