ANDERSON LAYS THE TRACKS FOR FREIGHT RAIL

Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has welcomed progress on the Intermodal Freight Facility in Tamworth, with today’s announcement confirming that it will be fully operational by the end of the year.

Mr Anderson said the former Liberals and Nationals NSW Government laid the tracks for today’s announcement with the $35.4 million reactivation of the West Tamworth to Westdale Rail Line.

“The key to unlocking growth for our business community is connecting our producers to larger, more diverse markets,” Mr Anderson said.

“That’s why I fought for the $35.4 million that made the reactivation of the West Tamworth rail line possible.

“The Tamworth Global Gateway Park is a significant investment in our future and businesses have been investing in the park on the back of the commitment to include freight rail.

“The intermodal freight terminal will not only benefit businesses within the footprint of the Global Gateway Park. I know that primary producers across the Northwest will be keeping a keen eye on the opportunities for rail transport of their goods.

“This will work hand in hand with our trucking operators who will be critical to getting the food from the plate to the freight facility.

“Whether it’s by rail, road, or air, I know that transport is the key to unlocking regional growth and economic development, which is why it’s so exciting to see progress on the industrial estate in and around the airport, and the West Tamworth rail line.

“I welcome QUBE logistics’ progress on this project and look forward to the facility opening later this year.”
