The NSW Liberal and Nationals Government is committed to building a new public school in Tamworth to service our growing community.

Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson there had been a growing number of voices adding to his call for a new school since he began the campaign last year.

“Fifteen years ago, Moore Creek was a semi-rural area, dotted with 5-acre blocks and larger lots. Now there are more than 1600 homes in the area and that number continues to grow,” Mr Anderson said.

“That’s why in 2022, I kicked off the campaign for a new school in the area, asking the Minister for Education Sarah Mitchell and the Department to start the background work analysing data, population growth, demographics, where students live and where they should be going to school.

“Now I’m taking my push to the next level with a commitment from the NSW Liberals and Nationals to secure a site for a new public school. A re-elected government will open the process and start calling for expressions of interest for a suitable site. There is available land in the area and I want to make sure that we don’t miss the opportunity to secure enough land for a new school.

“A school in the Moore Creek area is the next step and if re-elected I will continue to deliver much-needed education infrastructure for our growing community.

“We have a track record of delivering important upgrades to schools in the Tamworth Electorate with a new GS Kidd School in Gunnedah, and more recently, upgrades to Tamworth Public and Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School.

The NSW Government is investing $7.9 billion over the next four years, continuing its program to deliver 215 new and upgraded schools to support communities across NSW and I want the Tamworth electorate to be at the front of the assembly line.

This is the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.

The NSW Nationals in Government have committed to increasing permanent teacher and support numbers in NSW by 15,000 by the end of this year.
