Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has congratulated yet another Tamworth Apprentice, Joshua Solberg who has been awarded a NSW Country Apprentice Scholarship, part of a $150,000 program by the NSW Government to assist apprentices in regional areas.

Mr Anderson said in 2014 the NSW Government has awarded 10 Country Apprentice Scholarships throughout regional and rural New South Wales.

“The NSW Country Apprentice Scholarships are worth $15,000 for three years of an apprenticeship.

“The NSW Country Apprentice Scholarships assist apprentices in country NSW who have demonstrated hardship in their personal circumstances, yet have a drive and determination to successfully complete their apprenticeship and start their career.

"This scholarship is a credit to Joshua and I am proud the NSW Government is supporting Joshua with his qualifications.

“Joshua Solberg is studying Automotive Light Vehicle at J T Fossey Sales Pty Ltd in Tamworth and the scholarship will continue for an additional two years.

“If people are given support and the opportunity to excel in their trade they will reap the benefits for themselves and their local community,” Mr Anderson said.

These scholarships are in addition to the $2.4 million Bert Evans Apprentice Scholarship program announced in May by the NSW Education Minister Adrian Piccoli.

The Bert Evans Apprentice Scholarships are now open for apprentices in metropolitan and regional areas who have a disability or who are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander or who are females in a non-traditional trade. The Bert Evans Scholarships will close on 25 July.
