Eight Golden Guitar nominations for Felicity Urquhart and two nominations for Ashleigh Dallas for next January’s Golden Guitar Awards will keep the home flag flying for Tamworth.

Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson congratulated the two Tamworth locals for their swag of nominations and wished them well for the big night on 25 January, 2020.

“I’m so proud and thrilled for Felicity after the tremendous heartbreak she had earlier in the year, with the loss of her husband Glen Hannah.

“Glen was a talented producer and his ability shines clearly with the nominations that Felicity’s album, Frozen Rabbit, has received.

“Congratulations to Ashleigh Dallas, a third generation country music performer with tremendous ties to Tamworth and Kootingal.

“She comes from a traditional Tamworth country music family and she does her family and community proud with these nominations.

“I can’t wait for the 10 days of the Festival, Tamworth is like many regional centres struggling with this drought.

“I hope we get plenty of visitors who’ll support our local businesses, pubs, hotels and motels. It’ll be a real shot in the arm of the city.

“This is fantastic news for Tamworth as the Festival is one of Australia’s biggest regional events and 2020 will be no exception.

“I’m also delighted that Destination NSW has announced today financial support for the next three years for the Festival and this will include celebrating the event’s 50th anniversary in 2022,” Mr Anderson concluded.

“Country Music Capital News Editor Cheryl Brown said Tamworth’s links with its own Festival continue to strengthen.

“It’s so exciting to see Ashleigh and Fliss (Felicity Urquhart) receive these nominations.

“Fliss’ album Frozen Rabbit is so beautiful and while we mourn with her, we’re so thrilled to see this critical acclamation.

“Ashleigh Dallas’ dad Brett was the producer on one of her nominations, continuing this fine tradition with the Dallas family.

“2018 Starmaker winner Brad Cox has two Golden Guitar nominations and his star is on the rise. He’s managed by former Tamworth resident Kurt Bailey.

“2019 Starmaker, Blake O’Connor another young man whose career was born here in Tamworth is also up for two nominations.

“It’s so exciting to see the strength among our locals in the Australian country Music and international scene,” Ms Brown said.
