TAMWORTH LOCAL TO HEAD UP NEW DESTINATION NETWORK
Tourism in Regional NSW is set to be strengthened with the announcement of the team that will head up the new tourism network Destination Country and Outback NSW.
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said Tamworth local Stephen Bartlett will Chair the new group which aims to improve industry engagement and grow local visitor economies in our regions.
“Steve brings more than 35 years’ experience in local government working across the region in locations including Tamworth, Dubbo and Gunnedah and will make the perfect person to lead this new tourism team.
“Steve is passionate about rural and regional NSW and I have no doubt that he will use that passion and his experience to drive tourism through our region and the rest of country and outback NSW.
“It’s fitting that the Chair comes from one of the biggest regional cities in NSW that has a proven track record in tourism management.
“We expect there will be great benefits from the new Destination Networks. If we can continue to find ways to bank on the amazing tourism opportunities we have to offer then we can grow the tourism market and ultimately drive more local jobs.”
Mr Anderson said a session will be held in the New Year to induct the Boards, with our tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, before beginning the recruitment process for operational staff including a General Manager, establishing an office and setting priorities for the coming year.
