REGIONAL UNEMPLOYMENT RATE CONTINUES TO FALL
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has today welcomed the latest figures showing regional labour force trends which indicate the unemployment rate in the New England North West region continues to fall.
Mr Anderson said the NSW Government and private enterprise continue to invest in our local region which is providing more employment opportunities.
“This is great news to see the downward trend in unemployment continuing. It’s not by accident though, there is a lot of money coming into our region which is helping boost business and grow our local economy which ultimately creates more jobs.
“We still have a lot of work to do to maintain the downward trend we are currently seeing but moving around the electorate I see the investment that both public and private enterprise are making and am filled with confidence for the future.”
Mr Anderson said the State Government plays an important role in business confidence which is why he continues to fight for more funding in local infrastructure projects.
“There are plenty of road works going on in our local region at the moment which is a great sign; it’s the regional version of cranes in the sky. When there is major investment in roadworks such as the Oxley Highway and Manilla Road upgrades then we can be confident our economy is strong which provides the perfect environment for investment and business growth.”
Mr Anderson said Christmas retail trade appears to be strong and thanks everyone who chose to shop locally over the Christmas period.
“By thinking local and shopping local we can all play a role in ensuring that our local economy remains strong and unemployment continues to fall,” Mr Anderson concluded.
