LAUNCHING SOON – THE REGIONAL SENIOR’S TRAVEL CARD

A key pledge of the March NSW election campaign of a new $250 regional senior’s travel card will soon be available.

Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said the Regional Senior’s card’s aim is to ease the pressure of travel costs for seniors living in the bush.

“This is great news for our seniors as we want to help them stay connected with family and friends and access services.

“That’s why the NSW Government is soon to launch the new $250 regional seniors travel card.

“We know that travel is one of the most significant household costs faced by seniors living in rural and regional areas – and we want to ease that burden.

“The new Regional Seniors Travel Card is about reducing travel costs and making it easier for seniors to get to the shops, the doctor or just visit family and friends.”

“Staying connected is really important – this card is about helping seniors living in regional communities stay connected with family and friends and the services they need.

“The Regional Seniors Travel Card was a key election commitment and will provide a pre-loaded $250 Visa card to eligible seniors to spend on fuel, taxis or pre-booked TrainLink services,” Mr Anderson concluded.

To be eligible, you must be an age pensioner with a valid Pensioner Concession Card or hold a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card issued by either the Department of Human Services or Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

Seniors must live in regional NSW outside Wollongong and Newcastle City Council boundaries.

Eligible seniors will be able to register for their card through Service NSW in late January.
