HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE GAMES THEY PLAY
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson is inviting community members and sporting groups across the region to have a say on key local strategies developed to improve the delivery and planning of grassroots local sport over the next five years.
Mr Anderson said the plans will assist grass roots sport participation across the region by providing targeted sport programs and facility development for all community members to enjoy.
“This is a great opportunity for sports lovers in Breeza to Barraba, Gowrie to Gunnedah or Werris Creek to Walcha and right across the region to have their say on how grassroots sport will emerge in the next five years.
“I encourage everyone to view the plans and give their feedback on what they would like to see here in our region.
“These plans draw on ideas from the Australian Sports Commission and I want to make sure that all the sports we play here get a chance to have their say.
“This is an important first step in the process of gathering feedback from the community to ensure that we invest in the right mix of sports facilities that meet the needs of our unique communities.
“Nine Sport and Active Recreation plans have been developed with 30 - 40 strategies, which include initiatives specific to each of the regional areas.
“The plans will support participation across the state, by improving access to sports facilities and ovals and supporting programs that increase and encourage community involvement.
“Plans have been developed for the New England and the North West and key proposals like the ‘stay in your sport’ coach education program will encourage promising young stars to continue with their chosen sport.
“We are also looking to attract more valued sporting events to regional NSW, plan female-friendly sporting facilities and establish hubs to support multi-purpose sports,” Mr Anderson concluded.
Feedback is invited by Thursday 19 July 2018 at the Office of Sport website: https://sport.nsw.gov.au/regionalplans
