GUNNEDAH’S KEY PROJECTS FUNDED
Local MP Kevin Anderson has hailed the 2017-18 NSW State Budget as a success for Gunnedah with funding allocated for key major infrastructure projects.
Mr Anderson said that this budget is further evidence that Gunnedah plays an important role for NSW as it shows continued growth.
“I made a commitment to the people of Gunnedah that I would fight to see funding allocated to projects that the community has been calling for and I stand here today to say you have been heard and we delivered,” Mr Anderson said.
Key projects listed for Gunnedah in this year’s budget include:
$8 million to commence the Gunnedah Overpass
$5.5 million for the new Gunnedah Police Station
Continued redevelopment of Gunnedah Hospital
$298,000 for Community Transport assisting vulnerable people
$15,000 for a Kamilaroi Highway Corridor Strategy
“We have always ensured that funding flowed for Gunnedah but now it’s time to take things to the next level,” Mr Anderson said.
“This budget shows funding for key projects across health, law and order, and roads which are items that are important to local communities.
“The funding in this year’s budget is just the tip of the iceberg, I am excited to not just get these fantastic projects started but to also plan for future projects as we continue to build a better region.
“Today’s is much more than dollars on a page, it is a message to our region that we matter, we are getting our fair share and that we are being heard,” Mr Anderson concluded.
