FIGHTING BACK AGAINST ICE
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson today published a brochure aimed at helping the community fight back against the drug “ice”.
“I am serious about fighting this drug, and it will take multiple approaches and the cooperation of the community as a whole to get behind this”, Mr Anderson said.
“This brochure will help to educate the community on the signs, symptoms and risks of ice and other amphetamines, as well as how to access help.
“Most people have heard about ice and know that it is extremely addictive and destructive, but may not be aware of the signs of users, and the risks to their health and those around them.
“The “your call could make a difference” campaign launched in June urges the community to report any suspicious behaviour to Crime Stoppers to help stop this drug at its source.
“We have committed $400,000 over four years to help boost the capacity of treatment services offered by non-government organisations in the Hunter and New England Health Areas.
“Every household in my electorate will receive one of these brochures, and I encourage everyone to read it, talk to your children, and start the conversation about drugs. Young people need to realise just how dangerous this drug is”, Mr Anderson concluded.
The “Fighting back against ICE” brochure will be delivered to all households in the Tamworth electorate from next Monday 31 August.
