COMMUNITY GROUPS URGED TO APPLY FOR INFRASTRUCTURE GRANTS
Community organisations across the region are invited to apply for $12.5 million in funding to support local community projects under the NSW Government’s Infrastructure Grants program.
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said this is a great chance for local organisations to seek funding for a project to provide long-term tangible benefits to the community.
“Especially as we continue to battle with this unprecedented drought.
“This program has been expanded to cover projects that build community connections by supporting youth, mental health and domestic violence services, as well drought-affected communities.
“Infrastructure Grants can fund construction, alteration, renovation, completion and fit-out of buildings and community infrastructure.
“Types of projects being funded include new or upgraded sports grounds, museums, theatres, homeless shelters and evacuation centres.”
“This is great news for people from Walcha to Werris Creek, Barraba to Bendemeer, Gunnedah to Gowrie, or Tamworth.
“The Manilla Show Society successfully applied for one of these grants last year and received $156,695 for new seating for the showgrounds.
“These projects are all about creating resilient, healthy and connected communities, promoting participation in sport, recreation and arts, and boosting social inclusion and disaster resilience,” Mr Anderson concluded.
Applications for the second round of funding for 2019/20 are open until Monday 16 December. To find out more, visit www.responsiblegambling.nsw.gov.au
