CHALKING UP A MULTI-MILLION UPGRADE OF TAMWORTH PUBLIC SCHOOL
Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson will inspect the start of early works for the multi-million dollar upgrade of Tamworth Public School.
Mr Anderson said the major upgrade of the school will deliver seven new classrooms, a new hall, a staff room and a new arts and crafts area, which are scheduled for completion in mid-2020.
“This is great news for the students, their families and the staff at the school, as they will continue to provide an exceptional education to the students.
“The upgrade will also allow demountable classrooms to be removed, freeing up valuable open space in the school grounds for students to enjoy.
“The major upgrade will greatly benefit the Tamworth community.
“We want our children to have the best education possible, and providing high-quality school facilities is a key part of that.
“The Tamworth Public School upgrade is part of the largest investment into public school infrastructure by any state government in Australian history.
“We’ve really kicked some goals with our schools. In December I announced $1,381,097 to be spent on 40 schools in the region as part of the regular school maintenance program
“This was on top of $1.4 million spent in the summer of 2017 for school maintenance.
“There have been major upgrades at Peel High School and Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School and the first 30 schools in our region were announced to receive air conditioning under the record $500 million Cooler Classrooms program.
“This project at Tamworth Public School will deliver the high-quality school resources our students and teachers deserve,” Mr Anderson concluded.
