ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR GUNNEDAH POLICE STATION
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has welcomed additional funding for Gunnedah Police Station as part of the 2016/17 NSW Budget.
This year’s budget has allocated $1.8 million towards the construction of the new police station at Gunnedah.
Mr Anderson said planning work was already well underway.
“This project is desperately needed for our dedicated police officers who provide high-quality service to our region and are valued members of the community.
“It’s about getting it right for the long term so this station can service the community now and in to the future.
“Once completed the $5.5 million project will provide modern facilities for the officers stationed there which will be a huge improvement from the state of the current 50-year-old station.”
Deputy Premier and Minister for Police Troy Grant said the officers stationed at Gunnedah deserve the best facilities to be able to better protect the community.
“The current station is in desperate need of attention and no longer meets the needs of the community,” Mr Grant said.
“The funding allocated in today’s budget will allow planning works to be finalised and construction on the new police station can begin.
“The NSW Liberals & Nationals Government is proud to support regional police and the communities they serve,” Mr Grant concluded.
