Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has congratulated local residents who have received awards in yesterday’s Queen’s Birthday Honours.


Mr Anderson said that it is a tremendous honour for these members of our community who have dedicated their lives to assisting others on a daily basis.


“This year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours recognise the contribution to our community by two local residents, Kathy Challinor and Dr Cameron Henderson and two former residents Dr Natarjan Subbiah and Mrs Marion Bee.


“Kathy Challinor has been honoured in the general division for her service to nursing in the field of audiometry.


“Manilla GP Dr Cameron Henderson has received an Order of Australia Medal for his work as a rural doctor alongside former Barraba resident Dr Natarjan Subbiah for his work locally and further afield.


“Former South Tamworth Infants School Teacher Mrs Marion Bee has been recognised for her service to education, particularly through the promotion of literacy amongst children.


“The Queen’s Birthday Honours recognises the recipient’s contribution to our community and further afield and provide an opportunity for family, friends, colleagues and of course members of the public to show their immense gratitude.


“I congratulate all of our local recipients and thank them for their commitment and dedication to our community, this is a wonderful achievement,” Mr Anderson concluded.
