ANDERSON WELCOMES $44,699 GRANT FOR GUNNEDAH’S SOCIAL HOUSING RESIDENTS
Social housing residents in Gunnedah will benefit from almost $45,000 in funding to help provide safety improvements to their properties.
Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson said new fencing funded by the Social Housing Community Improvement Fund (SHCIF) will help improve safety for residents with complex needs and make the properties more attractive to current and potential tenants.
Mr Anderson welcomed the upgrade to the properties, which was funded through a SHCIF grant of $44,699 to Homes North Community Housing.
“This grant will go towards improving the safety of the most vulnerable members of our community.
“The new fencing is an attractive addition to the properties and will enhance the wellbeing for residents and the wider community.
“I am delighted to see funding from the SHCIF going towards a project of such great benefit to our community.
“The SHCIF is a $20 million grant program which has helped fund almost 500 community improvement projects since it started in 2015.
“The program provides funding of up to $50,000 to local councils, non-government and private organisations to build new capital works or upgrade existing facilities which will benefit social housing residents and the broader community.
“The project in Gunnedah is one of 13 projects that have received SHCIF funding in the Tamworth electorate.
In total, $453,937 of SHCIF funding has been allocated to projects in the Tamworth electorate.” Mr Anderson concluded.
