ANDERSON SCORES OPAL CARD WIN FOR THE COMMUNITY
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has today officially launched an Opal Card top-up terminal at the Service NSW centre in Tamworth today following his campaign for the service to be offered locally.
Mr Anderson said the announcement comes after a number of community members raised concerns with being able to access the card and top-up services before they reached Sydney which often was causing stress to those needing to travel.
“To travel on the public transport network in Sydney passengers need to obtain an Opal card that allows them access on buses, trains and ferries. The cards are available at many outlets in the city but have not been in Tamworth or the electorate.
“Although you can order your card and access Opal card services online, there are many members of our community that are not confident with that process which is why I fought hard to have a face to face service provided locally.
“While there is an ongoing push to have more services offered online I believe face to face service still has a vital role to play and any services that can be offered at the NSW Government’s one-stop-shop Service NSW, I want to ensure our local office is able to do that.
“Our local Service NSW team is considered to be amongst the best in the state and I thank them for the passion they have for quality customer service. They are changing the way people interact with Government services and had no hesitation in offering the Opal card service.
“Building a better region means identifying what services we can offer locally and taking action to get results,” Mr Anderson concluded.
