ANDERSON ELECTED AS PARLIAMENTARY FRIENDS OF LANDCARE CHAIR
Local Landcare groups will have greater representation in NSW Parliament following the election of Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson as Chair of the Parliamentary Friends of Landcare (PFL).
Mr Anderson said it is an honour to be elected as Chair of the group which brings together Members of Parliament from a range of political allegiances.
“As a big supporter of Landcare it truly is a great privilege to be able to represent my local groups in a greater capacity.
“I have worked closely with Landcare groups in my area for a long time and this now gives me more opportunity to share their voices with my colleagues in Parliament.”
The NSW PFL provides an avenue for Members of Parliament to connect with and offer support to Landcare both at the state level and locally in suburbs, regional towns and farming communities.
Landcare NSW Chair, Rob Dulhunty said “We welcome Mr Kevin Anderson MP as the new Chair of the NSW Parliamentary Friends of Landcare (PFL) and look forward to building on the great work that has already been achieved through this partnership in the past two years.
“Partnerships and bipartisan support for Landcare are crucial to sustaining a strong grassroots movement and strengthening Landcare’s ties with our elected representatives.
“We would also like to take this opportunity to thank The Hon Katrina Hodgkinson MP for the significant contribution she has made to Landcare at the local, regional and state level as she leaves State Parliament and her role as Chair of the Parliamentary Friends of Landcare,” Mr Dulhunty said.
Mr Anderson encouraged people in the community who would like to become more involved in environmental activities to contact their local Landcare by heading online to www.landcarensw.org.au .
