Minister for Education Adrian Piccoli and Member for Tamworth Mr Kevin Anderson today officially opened G S Kidd Memorial School’s new $6.5 million learning facilities.

Mr Piccoli said the project involved the relocation of the school and construction of new facilities.

“This multi-million dollar project involved building state-of-the-art facilities to cater for the school’s special needs students,” Mr Piccoli said.

“These facilities have been built on a new, larger site, allowing for the school to be further expanded in the future.

“G S Kidd Memorial School now has four modern classrooms with purpose built facilities including a special programs room, hydrotherapy pool and a new library.

“G S Kidd School is one of 19 Schools for Specific Purposes upgraded by the NSW Government using $94 million of residual Building the Education Revolution funding,” Mr Piccoli said.

Mr Anderson said the $6.5 million project included:

  • replacement of demountable classrooms to provide four new permanent classrooms;
  • a new library, hall, covered outdoor learning area and special programs room;
  • hydrotherapy pool;
  • new administration facilities;
  • undercover parking area; and
  • car parking.

“G S Kidd Memorial School is a special education setting located in Gunnedah, delivering quality teaching and learning programs for students with moderate to high support needs,” Mr Anderson said.

“Staff at the school work tirelessly to create a quality learning environment with high expectations for students.

“These new facilities will excite and engage G S Kidd Memorial School students well into the future by providing them with fully accessible and purpose built learning spaces.”
