Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson officially unveiled the completion of the $3.97 million upgrades for Tamworth Regional Airport’s terminal.

“Mr Anderson said the terminal was the front gate to Tamworth and “first impressions were lasting”.

“This is great news for Tamworth, the terminal has had a complete makeover and the upgrade has been wholly funded by the NSW Regional Tourism infrastructure Fund.

“This is what people expect when they come to a modern, sophisticated city. This is a beautiful facility; we want it to be modern, fresh and welcoming.

“The upgrade is fantastic, when you look at the café, the new boarding gate, departure lounges, retail space, toilets, expanding the check-in area and function rooms.

“Next week we have three days of major regional airport conferencing at our upgraded terminal, that’s a real coup for Tamworth.

“It’s a very comfortable terminal, you can come here and get good food – it’s a really nice reception area to our city that will create great first and lasting impressions.

“This redevelopment follows the $2.3 million upgrade and extension of the main apron, giving the airport the capacity to receive aircraft up to the size of Boeing 737-800s.

“As our city and region continues to grow, we’re working really hard to put in place the infrastructure and facilities to make it more attractive.

“Top class health facilities like the $211M Tamworth Hospital and my commitment of +$53M for the upgrade and redevelopment for Gunnedah hospital.

“We’re the only one with money on the table with $26.6M for the UNE to build a university campus here in Tamworth, a $3M upgrade for Gunnedah TAFE as well as 11 new courses, a brand new Skills Point for Tamworth TAFE SkillsPoints that provides Career Pathways, Aboriginal Languages and Employability Skills.

“As I always say, ‘build it and they will come’,” Mr Anderson concluded
