2012 YMCA Youth Parliament Nominations Open
The YMCA NSW Youth Parliament is back for 2012 for its eleventh session.
The Youth Parliament empowers young people from right across the state to send a message to our Parliamentarians about the issues they are passionate about.
Kevin Anderson, Member for Tamworth welcomes the opening of nominations for the YMCA Youth Parliament and the opportunities it presents for the State's youth. "In 2011, the Tamworth electorate was represented by Miranda Broekman of Gunnedah. We are now looking for another passionate and capable young person to represent our local area in 2012.
The Hon Victor Dominello MP, Minister for Citizenship and Communities, acknowledges the value of the program stating "The NSW Youth Parliament is a prestigious annual forum for young people to learn about the parliamentary process and get a real taste of what it's like to be an MP.
"The YMCA Youth Parliament provides constant support and guidance to help build the confidence and skills of young people to become leaders enabling them to contribute to building strong communities" Mr Anderson said.
2012 is the second year running that Members of Parliament nominate a young person from their electorate to represent their local community by participating in the YMCA Youth Parliament.
"I encourage all interested young people in the Tamworth electorate to put up their hand and to get in contact with my office should they wish to be considered.
"I will also provide sponsorship of $400 to assist the successful nominee to participate in the program" Mr Anderson said.
Nominations close on 11 November 2011 and all applicants are required to submit an application.
