FASTER TRAVEL TIMES ON TAMWORTH XPLORER TRAIN
CountryLink customers in the Armidale/Tamworth region travelling to and from Sydney will experience faster travel times from 23 October, Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson said today.
New safety systems introduced by the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) mean Xplorer trains will not have to stop before proceeding within the Werris Creek/Armidale rail corridor.
“These changes mean faster travel times for train passengers, and will result in time savings of up to 10 minutes for passengers boarding at Armidale,” Mr Anderson said.
“CountryLink Xplorer trains will no longer need to stop at various locations during the journey and wait for confirmation the track ahead is clear because they will now be notified automatically.
“This is great news for locals who travel with CountryLink as they will now enjoy a faster and smoother journey to and from Sydney.”
