WORK STARTS ON OXLEY HIGHWAY WEST OF GUNNEDAH

Maintenance work will start on 26 September on the Oxley Highway 26 kilometres west of Gunnedah.

Kevin Anderson, Member for Tamworth said the $600,000 work will include road resurfacing on a three kilometre stretch of the highway, and is scheduled to be completed by March 2011, weather permitting.

“This work will result in a smoother, safer and more durable road surface for all road users and is part of the RTA’s commitment to improving roads in our local area,” Mr Anderson said.

The work is being carried out by Gunnedah Shire Council on behalf of the RTA.

Some minor traffic delays may be experienced during work hours between 7.30am and 4.30pm on weekdays and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays if required.

At times traffic will be restricted by traffic controllers and a 40km/h speed limit will be enforced.

Motorists are asked to follow the signs, plan their journey and allow extra travel time.
