Media Releases - Kevin Anderson Media Release

The Nationals Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson was sworn in this morning at State Parliament, marking the start of a new era for strong regional representation in all our regional centres.

Mr Anderson said it was an exciting moment on a personal level, but more importantly for the people of the electorate, this was the start of a change of focus for the NSW government.

"After 16 years of a Labor government with the blinkers on, thinking NSW stood for Newcastle, Sydney and Wollongong, NSW now has a strong, regionally focussed government," Mr Anderson said

"I will be a loud voice to ensure projects are delivered to benefit our region."

"I believe in government, with strong and committed representation, we can do great things for the regions and for the state as a whole," Mr Anderson said.

"I am very proud to have been elected as the voice for the electorate and recognise the work begins here and now.

Mr Anderson said he enjoyed his first day, but recognised this was not the end goal, but the start of a long journey.

"Today marks the start of ensuring that those things we promised to deliver in Tamworth, are delivered.

"Important projects like the Tamworth Hospital redevelopment, the Split Rock Dam to Barraba pipeline, the Manilla Rd upgrade, the Resources for the Regions program and the Regional Strategic Land Use policy must be implemented for the benefit of the region.

"And I will continue to be a strong advocate in the government to ensure our region does not miss out, but leads the way in kick starting NSW's recovery."
