Hospital funds `achievable and believable'

Shadow Minister for Health Jillian Skinner and The Nationals candidate for Tamworth Kevin Anderson today said the NSW Liberals & Nationals $100 million commitment to a staged redevelopment of Tamworth Hospital was deliverable, achievable and believable.

Jillian Skinner said the decision to include Tamworth Hospital in the $885 million provided by the NSW Liberals & Nationals to fast-track hospital upgrades was based upon need.

"The staged redevelopment of Tamworth Hospital is needed, and has been needed for some time," Mrs Skinner said.

"Unfortunately a Labor government and independent representation at a local level hasn't delivered.

"Peter Draper and Labor promised this upgrade in 2007 and must be held to account.

"Local clinicians, doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and patients we have met with over the last few years have all spoken of the need for this upgrade.

"The NSW Liberals & Nationals have listened to the local community and have acted.

"After 16 years, all Labor and their local apologists can do is carp from the sideline, unable to justify their failure to deliver.

"Only the NSW Liberals & Nationals have the positive, practical plans to fix the State's health system.

"After 16 years of Labor, the NSW Liberals & Nationals are the only political parties putting real money on the table to upgrade this hospital.

"Under the NSW Liberals & Nationals this redevelopment is deliverable, achievable and believable.

"NSW needs real change but the only way that can happen is for people in Tamworth to vote for Kevin Anderson on March 26," Mrs Skinner said.

The Nationals candidate for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said that Jillian Skinner who has crossed the state many times meeting with local patients was a great advocate for rural and regional health.

"The people of Tamworth should be very happy with the NSW Liberals & Nationals commitment to make the staged redevelopment of Tamworth Hospital a priority," Kevin Anderson said.

"The NSW Liberals & Nationals are serious about regional NSW and the people of Tamworth.

"Tamworth deserves better than what Labor and their local apologists can deliver.

"One only has to look at Orange who are just about ready to open their new hospital to see what can be achieved with a Nationals member.

"It's great to be part of a team that can and will actually deliver," Mr Anderson said.
