NSW Nationals Leader Andrew Stoner, Shadow Minister for Health Jillian Skinner and The Nationals candidate for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said today that a NSW Liberals & Nationals government will make the total staged redevelopment of Tamworth Hospital a priority with $100 million to start the project in its first term.

In Penrith today Barry O'Farrell outlined the NSW Liberals & Nationals positive, practical plans to invest over $3 billion in health infrastructure over the next four years.

"The NSW Liberals & Nationals are focused on delivering better regional health infrastructure," Andrew Stoner said.

"That is why today the NSW Liberals & Nationals will make the total staged redevelopment of Tamworth Hospital a priority. We will commit $100 million to proceed with the project in our first term of government.

"Also committed today was funding towards the Dubbo, Parkes and Forbes Hospital redevelopments and ensuring the Fourth Pod expansion at Port Macquarie Base Hospital, with a cardiac cath lab is delivered as soon as possible within our first term of government.

"Unlike Labor, the NSW Liberals & Nationals have the positive, practical plans to Make Regional NSW Number One Again," Mr Stoner said.

Shadow Minister for Health Jillian Skinner said today's announcements included an additional $885 million to fast track hospital upgrades and redevelopments including projects like the Tamworth Hospital Redevelopment.

"A NSW Liberals & Nationals Government will deliver where Labor has failed after 16 years.

"We will deliver significant hospital upgrades in regional NSW including Tamworth, Port Macquarie, Dubbo and Wagga Wagga.

"After 16 years of Labor, it's time to fix our hospitals so our dedicated medical staff have the facilities they need to improve patient care," Mrs Skinner said.

The Nationals candidate for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said that after 16 years of Labor, the only way to change regional NSW is to change the government.

"Labor has had 16 years but all the local Tamworth and Gunnedah communities are getting is more of the same old Labor, nothing has changed," Kevin Anderson said.

"NSW need real change and that can only happen in Tamworth and Gunnedah with a vote for The Nationals on 26 March 2011", Mr Anderson said.
