Media Releases - Kevin Anderson Media Release
Leader of the Nationals Andrew Stoner and the Nationals candidate for Tamworth Kevin Anderson were in Tamworth today to announce that a NSW Liberals & Nationals Government will deliver school zone flashing lights at Tamworth Public School.This comes on top of the NSW Liberals & Nationals local schools and education package which includes:
- A $60 million injection to fund critical school maintenance and repairs;
- Giving decision-making power back to school communities; and
- An additional 900 new teachers, including as many as 30 new teachers in New England.
"Flashing lights at Tamworth Public School are just one part of our local schools and education package," Mr Stoner said.
"This includes more money for maintenance, greater power to school communities and an additional 900 new teachers, including as many as 30 in the New England region.
"After 16 years of Labor, less than 10 per cent of school zones in NSW have flashing lights.
"The NSW Liberals & Nationals believe the safety of students is paramount and we are working hard to deliver school zone flashing lights – this is just the starting point."
The Nationals candidate for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said schools throughout the region would benefit from the NSW Liberals & Nationals plan to boost school maintenance funding.
"Our children deserve the best quality school facilities possible, and that is why the NSW Liberals & Nationals are injecting more than $60 million into school maintenance funding," Mr Anderson said.
"Under our Local Schools, Local Decisions plan, schools in Tamworth will be eligible for up to $200,000 in additional funding for school maintenance.
"Over 16 years, Labor has neglected facilities in Tamworth schools and this simply isn't good enough.
"We're going to fix local schools by injecting more funds into maintenance and giving school communities more power on how to spend their budget.
"This means that schools such as Tamworth Public School, Oxley High School and Tamworth Hillvue Public School will be eligible for up to $200,000 more in critical maintenance funding.
"This is about giving local school communities control over the decisions that affect them," Mr Anderson said.
