FULL STEAM AHEAD FOR BARRABA PIPELINE
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has welcomed the news that Tamworth Regional Council has approved a project timeline for the construction on the Split Rock to Barraba Pipeline. Council signed off on the timeline that will see the project completed by May 2014
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said this is news that we have been waiting for, Barraba residents will be able to turn on their taps and enjoy fresh clean running water for the first time in years.
"The process is to complete the route survey, commence design, then construct and finally complete the project.
"At present the preferred pipeline route is being finalised with consultation soon to commence with landholders. This is an important aspect with letters being forwarded to property owners and then the engineer will be meeting with property owners along the preferred route to discuss access arrangements.
"This project is starting to be a reality, and is very exciting not only for the people of Barraba but also for those businesses who have been looking to invest in Barraba on the proviso that the pipeline would go ahead. It will increase confidence and investment in the area
"I commend the great work of the Barraba Community Development Committee lead by President Danny Ballard and Tamworth Regional Council for keeping the project on the move.
"The timing is perfect with Split Rock Dam ready to deliver. The dam is currently at 81 percent capacity holding 320,677 mega litres, the highest in many years.
"I look forward to seeing Barraba grow and prosper with this future water security.
