NEW PASS MAKES TRAVELLING ON SYDNEY’S ORBITAL EASIER
Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson has welcomed the announcement by the NSW Government of a new easy system for casual users of Sydney’s orbital motorway network to pay road tolls.
The electronic motorway user or eMU pass will be rolled out across hundreds of petrol stations and convenience stores along highways and major routes to help make travelling through Sydney for country motorists and holidaymakers as simple as possible.
“This is great news for people travelling across NSW and Sydney as it will remove any problems travelling across toll roads,” Mr Anderson said
“The NSW Government is listening to what motorists want and is providing a more convenient way to pay tolls on Sydney motorways.
“The eMU pass is available just in time for the holiday season and is available at more than 300 service stations on highways and key routes across NSW,” Mr Anderson said.
Minister for Roads and Ports Duncan Gay said the eMU pass is ideal for anyone travelling to Sydney for leisure or business who needs to travel on the toll roads.
“With eight toll roads forming part of Sydney’s orbital network, it’s likely anyone visiting Sydney will use a toll road at some point during their visit,” Mr Gay said.
“It’s simple to set up and can even be activated up to 48 hours after travelling on a toll road.
“The pass which covers travel on Sydney’s motorways for 30 days, joins a suite of other tolling products available from Roads and Maritime Services, so there is something to suit everyone’s needs,” he said.
Major participating service centres which will stock the eMU pass from Thursday include BP, Caltex, Shell, United and Mobil. A full list of outlets will be posted on the RMS website.
The eMU pass is available for $5.95 and once activated can be used for up to 30 days. Tolls are charged to the nominated credit or debit card (Mastercard and Visa Debit card only) as well as a 75 cent video matching fee for each toll.
For more information or a full list of the locations where the passes will be available visit www.rms.nsw.gov.au.
