Anderson Welcomes New Police Recruits
Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson MP has today welcomed 10 new Probationary Constables to our community and the Oxley Local Area Command.
“It was a pleasure to meet and greet the 10 new police officers at the Tamworth Police Station today. I congratulated each and every one them for choosing what can be a very difficult but rewarding job." Mr Anderson said.
“It was very pleasing to see a number of locals in the group. They will be able to provide their peers with valuable local knowledge, as they not only know our region but also the challenges that we face. Of the 10 new police, 8 will be stationed at Tamworth and 2 will be stationed at Gunnedah.
"Another pleasing aspect was the variety of backgrounds that these new officers have come from. These range from the trades and defence force to the retail sector and tertiary education. Policing is a very difficult job, and these life skills and experiences will assist them in their role.
"Not only do our communities welcome the new recruits, but existing police also greeted their colleagues with enthusiasm.
"Our region has been facing a very difficult period with rising crime and anti social behaviour. I believe we can overcome this and our new police will play an important role. At a recent public meeting in Tamworth an increase in police numbers was a key point. I am pleased to see that we have more police arriving and will continue to work hard to ensure that we have the numbers to match our population growth into the future.
"I wish our new recruits well and congratulate and thank them for choosing a career in the NSW Police Force." Mr Anderson concluded.
