10 NEW RECRUITS FOR THE OXLEY COMMAND
Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson MP has is looking forward to the arrival of 10 new recruits who will be joining our Local Area Command on Monday.
In a boost for regional and rural NSW the NSW Government today announced that 301 officers from today’s class will be joining Local Area Commands in regional and rural areas.
“This is a great day for our local community and more broadly for country and regional NSW,” Mr Anderson said.
“Our local community is proud of its Force and we are even more proud to be welcoming a further 10 recruits to our local area.
“The men and women who have embarked on a career with the Police Force can be assured of this community’s support,” Mr Anderson said.
Minister for Police and Emergency Services Michael Gallacher said this Government has committed to strengthening Police numbers by aiming for an Authorised Strength of 90% and above for every Command across NSW.
“Prior to the last election, the NSW Government made the commitment to conduct an audit of police resources, to get a clear picture of where Police are and where they need to be.
“The Audit clearly told us that communities in regional areas are crying out for more Police and today the Government is able to rectify this problem,” Mr Gallacher said.
Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner said so many parts of regional and rural NSW have been in desperate need of a more localised and consistent police presence.
The previous Labor Government had simply failed to provide the necessary police resources for regional and rural NSW.
“Along with the Police Minister, I am delighted that the Government has been able to provide these desperately needed resources to parts of NSW that have been neglected,” Mr Stoner said.
Minister Gallacher said the Government is committed to delivering for NSW Police. This year we had a record Police Budget of $3 billion to ensure our officer and the community have the resources they need.
