$50 000 IN PROGRAM FUNDING FOR TAMWORTH ARTS PROJECTS

Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has announced a grant $50 000 for local arts and cultural projects as part of the 2012 Arts Funding Program.

Mr Anderson said this grant is part of a funding package to support a mix of arts centres, galleries, museums, theatres, creative hubs and community arts centres across the State. 

“In 2012, Tamworth Regional Gallery been allocated $50 000 for their first year of triennial program funding,” Mr Anderson said.

“This grant will assist Tamworth Regional Gallery to present a program of visual art and craft exhibitions including major touring, guest and in-house curated exhibitions.

“The Gallery will also present an on-going program of public events and educational activities comprising public lectures by leading artists and curators, exhibition openings with floor talks, children's workshops, floor talks for school groups and community outreach activities.

Minister for Tourism, Major Events, Hospitality, Racing and the Arts, George Souris, said through the funding the NSW Government is ensuring that NSW remains a centre of creativity and innovation.

“The Liberals and Nationals Government is also increasing opportunities for people across NSW to enjoy a wide range of art and cultural activities,” Mr Souris said.

“This funding supports an organisation’s costs of delivering programs of artistic and cultural activities including the employment of artists.

“The 2012 program funding allocation is in addition to $2.9 million in existing funding for triennial arts and cultural projects.”

The 2012 Arts Funding Program is worth more than $58 million in total. 

Funding has already been announced for regional conservatoriums, performing arts touring, capital infrastructure, screen audience development, strategic industry development, ConnectEd Arts and creation and or presentation of new works.
