A NSW Liberals & Nationals Government will contribute $2,000,000 towards the upgrade of Manilla Road, NSW Opposition Leader Barry O'Farrell, Shadow Minister for Roads Andrew Stoner and Nationals candidate for Tamworth Kevin Anderson announced in Oxley Vale today.

"The NSW Liberals & Nationals are committed to improving regional roads and making them safer," Mr O'Farrell said.

"As you drive along Manilla Road in Oxley Vale it is clear that the Keneally Labor Government and their local apologists have failed to properly maintain this important piece of infrastructure.

"Nationals candidate for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has also told me of the difficulty local residents face with the Tribe Street intersection jamming right back up in peak periods.

"The NSW Liberals & Nationals remain committed to improving regional roads as part of our positive, practical plans to Make NSW Number One Again," Mr O'Farrell said.

Leader of The Nationals and Shadow Minister for Roads Andrew Stoner said that the upgrading of Manilla Road would be a priority of a NSW Liberals & Nationals Government.

"Here you have a solid commitment by the NSW Liberals & Nationals to ensure that the Manilla Road is upgraded," Andrew Stoner said.

"This has come about following the strong advocacy of Kevin Anderson on behalf of the community.

"Only through effective representation as part of a government team will the Tamworth community receive its fair share," Mr Stoner said.

The Nationals candidate for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said that if elected he will work closely with Tamworth Regional Council and the RTA to see the money spent on resurfacing Manilla Road from Tribe street to Kirkham Crescent and on upgrading the Tribe Street intersection.

"Having both the Leader of the Opposition and the Leader of The Nationals in Oxley Vale today showed how seriously the NSW Liberals & Nationals were taking the area," Kevin Anderson said.

"Only as part of a strong NSW Liberals & Nationals team can the region expect to get the improvements in services and infrastructure they so desperately need," Mr Anderson said.
