Operation Santa Launched Today

The Tamworth Uniting Care Christmas Appeal was launched in Target today. In it's 20^th year the Appeal helps bring a little Christmas joy to people in need, particularly those unable to celebrate with gifts.

Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson attended the launch which included a choral performance by the Uniting Church and CWA combined choir.

"There are many people in our local community who struggle through the festive season. This can occur for many reasons including financial stress, mental illness, homelessness, family turmoil and an absence of loved ones."

"Operation Santa helps to alleviate some of the pressures of the festive season by facilitating the spirit of giving within our local community."

"I encourage locals to dig deep and make a donation this Christmas to someone less fortunate then themselves."

To help disadvantaged local families Mr Anderson is running a Christmas Food Drive out of his Fitzroy Street office. Non perishable food items can be donated at 13 Fitzroy Street with the collection going to the Tamworth Uniting Church to distribute to those most in need.
