Anderson Votes for his Community
Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson has slammed the previous Labor Government for their hypocrisy over the Coal Seam Gas Industry.
Today the Leader of the Opposition, John Robertson MP, played political games in Parliament by calling for all exploration to stop across the state.
"Mr Robertson has a short and very selective memory. It was his Labor Government that granted State licenses at will, with no regard for the environment or our communities," Mr Anderson said.
"We are now left with the mess he created.
“He has jumped on the bandwagon, seeking cheap political points at the expense of the community.
"Today I voted for my community by seeking a long term solution to this problem. As opposed to the knee jerk reaction of the previous government who did not care about regional NSW, the environment and our people.
"We need to get this right, I am ensuring that we create certainty, deliver balance, build strong and resilient communities, and involve people in local decision-making process.
"We will be giving farmers and industry greater control over their future directions.
“Let me state the facts, the NSW Liberal & Nationals Government has not issued or renewed one coal seam gas exploration licence since coming to power. We are developing the most stringent environmental standards for Coal Seam Gas in Australia.
"I support the development of the NSW Government’s Strategic Regional Land Use Policy which will address the issues faced by communities in relation to water and food security, the protection of prime agricultural land and competing land uses.
