FUNDING BOOST TO LOCAL CONSERVATORIUMS
Kevin Anderson MP, Member for Tamworth has announced $69 705 in State Government funding for the Tamworth and Gunnedah Conservatoriums to enhance musical education in the region.
Mr Anderson said the conservatoriums are two of 17 across the State to share a total of $718,276 in Regional Conservatorium Project Funding as part of the 2012 Arts Funding Program.
Mr Anderson was delighted by the funding and the cultural and educational opportunities it will bring to our local region.

Tamworth Regional Conservatorium of Music Inc |
In its partnership with the Capitol Theatre in Tamworth, the conservatorium has expanded the 2012 Subscription series to include eight concerts showcasing a diverse range of musical genres such as classical, opera, jazz, and hip hop. |

Gunnedah Music Centre |
The 2012 program is designed to increase attendance at live music events by local residents. It will include two concerts aimed at families with young children. Tickets will be affordable and the concerts of a shorter duration. |

Minister for Tourism, Major Events, Hospitality, Racing and the Arts, George Souris, said regional conservatoriums are key arts organisations in regional NSW.
“Regional Conservatorium Project Funding aims to enhance regional diversity, excellence and innovation in musical performance through boosting the number of professional music performances and arts development in regional and rural areas,” he said.
“It also aims to increase access to high quality musical experiences for musicians, staff and students at the conservatoriums.
Regional Conservatorium Project Funding provides grants which generally range between $5,000 and $60,000.
In addition to this funding, all 17 regional conservatoriums in NSW receive recurrent funding from the Department of Education and Communities.
