
Tamworth to host Strength and Conditioning Coaching course

A specialist sports coaching course targeting player fitness development and management will take place in
Organised by the Office of Communities - Sport and Recreation division, the course is delivered by the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association and is a fully accredited coaching qualification.
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said the course is expected to attract participants from across North West NSW.
“Sports coaches, fitness instructors and gym supervisors are invited to enrol in a Level 1 Strength and Conditioning Coaching course to be held in
“This specialised course is not held very frequently so I urge interested locals to make the most of this valuable opportunity.”
Sport and Recreation coordinator Gaylene Ryan said the two-day course has been organised in response to an identified need within regional sport, particularly the football codes, for more coach education in player fitness development and management.
“The Level 1 Strength and Conditioning Coaching Course will cover how to develop speed, strength and flexibility programs for athletes and teams as well as injury prevention, management and rehabilitation procedures,” Ms Ryan said.
“It is suitable for any sports coach but will be particularly relevant to winter sport coaches, just in time for pre-season training for 2012.
“Numbers are strictly limited so I encourage any interested coach to register as soon as possible.”

The course cost of $360 includes learning resources, Australian Coaching Council Registration and 12 months membership of the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association.
