Kevin Anderson on the lookout for a Youth Member of Parliament!

Kevin Anderson MP is searching the Tamworth Electorate for young people to participate in the YMCA NSW Youth Parliament 2012.

“The YMCA NSW Youth Parliament promotes youth-led advocacy, active community leadership and legal and parliamentary education,” said Mr Anderson.

“I strongly encourage local young people who are interested in getting their voice heard in Parliament to contact my office”.

The YMCA NSW Youth Parliament empowers young people to stand up for their peers as their representative in the NSW Legislative Assembly. They sit in the Assembly for a week in July where they debate Bills, Matters of Public Importance, participate in Question Time and more.

The successful applicant will participate in a series of activities in the lead up to the parliament, including community engagement; sit-down discussions with their local MP and staff; a series of training camps where they will develop their legislative agendas.

Mr Anderson's selection process requires application to submit a 500 word essay on the electoral process.

"Application Packs have been sent out to all high schools within the electorate, with additional packs available at my office."

"Nominations close on the 11th November", Mr Anderson concluded.
