Infrastructure funding secured for Westdale Public School
Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson MP, is pleased to announce that funding has been secured for infrastructure and maintenance at Westdale Public School.
Mr Anderson said, "Joint funding has been approved as part of the NSW Government Budget released on 6 September 2011. The budget delivered on key election promises and addressed important issues in maintenance and infrastructure backlogs in our local schools.
"Westdale Public School has been approved for near on $31 000 in funding through the Program.
Project allocations include:
- $16 291 to provide two Covered Outdoor Learning Areas
- $6000 to provide a covered walkway
- $3 068 to provide a new shed
- $5445 to undertake groundworks
"I am pleased that funding for these important projects has been approved as part of the local school community's and the NSW Government's efforts to improve school facilities.
"This joint funding program provides a real incentive to school to raise funds within the local community, with Government recognising and supporting local school based initiatives.
The joint funding program provides funding to schools on a dollar-for-dollar basis, with the school providing at least 50% of the total estimated cost of a nominated project and the Department providing the remainder.
"Westdale Public School is also the recipient of a $2,500 environmental grant from the NSW Government’s 2011/12 Environmental Trust program.
"Westdale Public plan to use their grant to create a habitat garden to attract local wildlife.
"The School will plant an understorey for an existing corridor of trees as well as create a wetland area for frogs, fish and lizards and a paved access path for disabled students,” Mr Anderson said.
