UPGRADED EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT FOR
CANOWINDRA HEALTH SERVICE
Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Premier, Kevin Anderson MP, and Nationals Candidate for Orange, Scott Barrett, today announced that Canowindra Health Service will receive a $740,000 upgrade to the Emergency Department, which will improve accessibility, patient flow and security.
“This is great news for Canowindra, work will commence early next year, and the upgrade is expected to be completed by mid-2017. The newly refurbished ED will ensure that nurses will be closer when needed in urgent emergency situations”, Mr Barrett said.
“The refurbishment of the Emergency Department will improve access into the ED by staff, including increased safety at night, with better patient flow given the new design and centralised position of the ED in the facility”, Mr Anderson said.
Canowindra Health Service Manager, Janice Rumph said she was thrilled with the announcement of the funds to make improvements to the facility.
“The newly refurbished ED will ensure that nurses will be closer when needed in urgent emergency situations,” Ms Rumph said.
The project will also create an additional two disabled car spaces, disabled ramp into the ED and new toilet facilities for patients, visitors and staff.
“We are all very excited by the improvements that will be made, and everyone is so excited to soon have a more modern, safe and functional facility.”
The tender for the refurbishment is expected to be released soon and the project is expected to be completed by mid-2017.
Funding for the project has been sourced from the Rural Health Minor Works (RHMW) Program.
