TAMWORTH ELECTORATE GIVEN A SPORTING CHANCE
THANKS TO FUNDING ANNOUNCEMENT
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has announced more than $15,000 awarded to local organisations under the latest round of the Sport and Recreation Participation Program.
Mr Anderson said that he was delighted to announce funding for sporting participation programs in our local community.
“This funding will reduce barriers to participation and make sport more accessible, which in turn encourages more people from across the Tamworth electorate to get active and healthy through sport.
“By assisting organisations to implement and run participation programs such as Billabong Clubhouses’, that I visited today, the NSW Government is also helping to strengthen our local community through sport,” Mr Anderson said.
Acting Director, Terri Bramley said the $1500 grant will assist Billabong Clubhouse to introduce a program which will provide a holistic approach to healthy living and exercise.
“Often when people are suffering from a mental illness it is hard to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
“The program that we will introduce at the Clubhouse will offer a range of initiatives to assist people in getting their health on track, from diet to exercise and also advice and help on other co-existing health conditions,” Mrs Bramley said.
Mr Anderson said that he is passionate about ensuring opportunities are provided for as many people as possible to obtain the benefits derived from living an active healthy lifestyle.
“It is great see firsthand how modern facilities and programs such as Billabong Clubhouses’ can make a difference and assist people get healthy and active,” Mr Anderson concluded.
