TAMWORTH BUSLINES CUTS FARES TO ALLOW MORE PASSENGERS THE FREEDOM TO TRAVEL
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson today joined with Tamworth Buslines Manager, Mr Chris Lanham to announce that Tamworth Buslines have reduced the longer distance fares on all out of town route services from 1 January 2015.
Mr Anderson said this is great news for regional passengers who use public transport in the Tamworth electorate.
“Today’s announcement is in response to feedback from the community to make longer distance bus travel more affordable.
“Tamworth Buslines has capped its route fares to a maximum of $6.00 per adult trip and $3.00 per concession trip.
Mr Anderson said “For some customers this will mean that their $10.10 adult fare each way will be reduced by more than 40% to $6.00, or the weekly travel cost from $101.00 to $60.00.
The reduced weekly travel costs will include destinations such as:
- Manilla to Tamworth
- Bendemeer to Tamworth
- Quirindi to Tamworth
- Werris Creek to Tamworth
Chris Lanham Manager of Tamworth Buslines said “This should certainly make bus travel more affordable and give many people in the community greater freedom to move around the area”.
“There will also be no increases to the Regional Excursion Daily (RED) tickets which will remain at $2.50 per ticket to travel all day for valid concession card holders,” Mr Lanham said.
Mr Anderson said “I congratulate and thank Tamworth Buslines for listening to the needs of the community and making public transport more accessible for regional passengers.
