TRANSITION TO NDIS TO BENEFIT LOCAL COMMUNITY - ANDERSON
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said July 2018 represents a significant milestone for people with a disability, their families and their carers, with the National Disability Insurance Scheme [NDIS] now available to all eligible people with a disability in NSW.
Mr Anderson said the NDIS ensures people with disability have the support they need to engage with and contribute to the community.
“Every person living in our region can have peace of mind that if they or a loved one has or acquires a permanent disability they will receive the support they need.
“The NDIS is the largest social reform in a generation and now any person in NSW who is eligible for the NDIS can join the Scheme, even if they haven’t previously received support.
“Many more people are now benefiting from the NDIS in our region and in addition the NDIS is expected to generate between 7,400 and 9,000 full time jobs in the Hunter New England Health District.
“The NSW Government is contributing more than $3.2 billion to the scheme, and has delivered on our commitment to the NDIS,” Mr Anderson concluded.
The NSW Government will continue to ensure all people with a disability in NSW have access to mainstream services, under the National Disability Strategy and NSW Disability Inclusion Act.
