TOP SHELF WITH $200,000 LIBRARY INFRASTRUCTURE GRANT
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has welcomed a $200,000 Library Infrastructure Grant for stage one of the implementation of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) across Central Northern Regional Library.
Mr Anderson said the project involves tagging every item in the library’s collection with a unique RFID tag and then the eventual installation of security gates in the libraries.
“This will prove to be great assistance to workflows for Library staff when they perform their stocktakes – all they have to do is wave a RFID stocktake wand to collect the data they need,” he said.
“Increased stocktake activity will improve the accuracy of the library database and multiple items can be processed simultaneously as the RFID can scan 15 items at once,” Mr Anderson concluded.
Central Northern Regional Library serves six local government areas: Tamworth Region, Liverpool Plains Shire, Narrabri Shire, Gwydir Shire, Uralla Shire and Walcha Council.
