TOP AWARD FOR GUNNEDAH CUSTOMER CHAMPION
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson MP congratulated Gunnedah’s Karen Neader on winning the top award at the 2016 Transport Awards held in Sydney.
Karen who is a NSW TrainLink Customer Service Attendant at Gunnedah Station, won the Transport Secretary’s Award for Individual Excellence from a field of nominees from across the state’s transport agencies.
Karen travelled to Sydney to receive the award from Transport for NSW Secretary Tim Reardon, Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance and Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight Melinda Pavey.
Mr Anderson said the Secretary’s award was the top honour given at the end of the event and recognised Karen’s outstanding commitment to serving customers at Gunnedah Station.
“I congratulate Karen on this wonderful achievement, she is well known by her colleagues and customers for the care she shows for everyone.
“In presenting the award Mr Reardon spoke how Karen is the ideal role model as someone who always places the customer experience at the forefront.
“NSW TrainLink regularly receives compliments from customers about Karen’s diligence and dedication to her job, whether it’s assisting elderly customers with their luggage or making sure a taxi gets them from the station to their destination.
“As well as looking after NSW TrainLink customers, Karen is also known for the immaculate way she maintains the Gunnedah Station, right down to the potted colour on the platform.
“The Gunnedah community can be very proud to have a dedicated person looking after their needs at the Station and welcoming visitors arriving by train,” Mr Anderson said.
Mr Anderson said Karen’s NSW TrainLink’s colleagues used military like secrecy to ensure the award was a big surprise for Karen when her name was read out.
“Karen arrived in Sydney for the awards thinking she was joining colleagues nominated for another team award, only to take out the main award herself.
“I am pleased that country hospitality like this has been recognised and I encourage the Gunnedah community to congratulate Karen on being such a wonderful ambassador in this important role serving our community,” Mr Anderson said.
