TIME TO CELEBRATE OUR GRANDPARENTS

Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson announced today that Tamworth’s Lyn Davy is the regional winner of the 2018 Grandparent of the Year Award.

Mr Anderson said the award is part of the NSW Government’s 2018 Grandparents Day event, to show grandparents and seniors in the Tamworth region how valuable they are to the community.

“Grandparents are true stars in our community, devoting their time to supporting their families and friends near and far.

“Lyn Davy has been a friend and mentor to the many families that she has come into contact with throughout her 42 years as a day care provider.

"Aunty Lyn" as she is affectionately known is much loved and still receives visits, as well as gifts from the children she had in her care.

“Many of these children are now grown up and have children of their own and the tradition of care and love continues.

“Aunty Lyn not only provided care for children but was also a shoulder for many parents who would often find the pressures of work and life a struggle.

“Aunty Lyn is such a warm caring person and because of her beautiful nature, she very quickly became part of the family that she cared for, such was the trust and faith families had and still have in her.

“Aunty Lyn always set a good example for the children in her care, ensuring they were loved and cared for. She always made sure that good manners and respect for others was the number one priority.

“She is now retired but still gets calls to see if she will come out of retirement.
“Selfless seniors in our communities deserve to be recognised, celebrated, and simply thanked for all the hard work they have done, and all the things they keep doing to make our communities better,” Mr Anderson concluded.
