TECH SAVVY SENIORS INVITED TO TAMWORTH LIBRARY EVENT
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson is encouraging older residents to get their smartphones, tablets and computers ready as the 2018 Tech Savvy Seniors Roadshow comes to the Tamworth City Library on 1 and 2 of May, 2018.
Delivered in partnership with Telstra, Tech Savvy Seniors provides free or low cost training through a network of community colleges and libraries to help seniors learn to use digital devices.
Mr Anderson said the Roadshow supports seniors in rural and regional areas who may experience social isolation or live further away from services to access information that will benefit their health and social wellbeing.
“Modern technology can connect local residents to important services as well as friends and family instantly. I urge local seniors to take advantage of the Tech Savvy Seniors program and discover how they can make their lives easier,” he said.
“The NSW Government is committed to empowering older people to take advantage of technology through the Tech Savvy Seniors program. It is never too late to learn the skills to use social media, shop, bank, and seek information online.
“The NSW Seniors Card program already helps over 1.5 million older people reduce their everyday costs of living. The learnings in this module will make it even easier for seniors to seek out the best deals for their individual needs,” Mr Anderson concluded.
