ROUNDABOUT INCLUDED IN MANILLA ROAD UPGRADE
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson today announced a new roundabout will be included in the third and final stage of the Manilla Road upgrade in Tamworth after consultation with the community.
Mr Anderson said that the upgrade will improve safety and reduce traffic congestion on this vital link road between Tamworth and the city’s northwest.
“The roundabout at the intersection of Lemon Gums and Orley drives and Manilla Road was suggested by local residents when the concept design was put on public display in August last year.
“Roads and Maritime listened to community feedback and agrees a roundabout will help traffic turning into Manilla Road at this and other intersections.
“Work on the first and second stages of the Manilla Road upgrade project was completed in July last year with some minor landscaping and earthwork finished late last year.
“The third stage from Brogla Crescent to Lemon Gums Drive will improve the condition and lifespan of Manilla Road,” Mr Anderson said.
The upgrade will ease congestion and improve traffic flow by improving turning arrangements at intersections and improving access to properties.
“Preliminary work is scheduled to start this month and be carried out for 10 weeks, weather permitting.
The full building program is expected to take another four months to complete, weather permitting,” Mr Anderson concluded.
