REGIONAL COACH TRIAL HITS THE ROAD
A trial of new coach services connecting Tamworth with Dubbo, Port Macquarie and Newcastle will begin next month, Member for Tamworth and Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Roads, Maritime and Transport Kevin Anderson announced today.
Mr Anderson said trial services will start on Monday 12 March 2018 after strong interest from the community during consultation led by NSW TrainLink.
“I thank the community for their input into planning these services, with almost 500 people completing a survey to help NSW TrainLink select the days and times for the trials,” Mr Anderson said.
“After speaking to the community it is clear people want better direct public transport links between regional areas.
“The new services will bring regional centres closer together, with people saying the main reasons they would use the three trial services is to visit family and friends or go on holidays.
“According to feedback, the new connection between Tamworth and Newcastle will be very popular for day trips, making it easier for people heading to Newcastle for medical appointments.
“Tickets go on sale today and I encourage the community to get on board to ensure they will continue running into the future.
“NSW TrainLink is committed to trialling the new services for at least six months and will be reviewing customer feedback and preferences during the trial to see if improvements can be made.”
NSW TrainLink finalised the timetables based on feedback collected through surveys and a series of community engagement sessions which were held throughout the region in December and January.
Customers can book seats on the trial coach services online at www.transportnsw.info or by phoning NSW TrainLink on 13 22 32.
