NEW BUS BAY AND ROAD ACCESS FOR PEEL HIGH SCHOOL
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson today inspected the commencement of construction of new bus bay facilities at Peel High School.
Mr Anderson was joined by Peel High School P&C President Mr Ashley Castles, Peel High School Teacher and P&C Life Member Mr Greg Parker and Tamworth Regional Council Manager Civil Construction, Mr Graeme McKenzie.
“During the school holidays Roads and Maritime Services in conjunction with Tamworth Regional Council will construct new bus bay facilities and improve road access to Peel High School.
“We have committed $485,000 to improving access to the school which is on the Oxley Highway,” Mr Anderson said.
Peel High School P&C President, Mr Ashley Castles said that it is great to see construction commence.
“It all comes down to safety and the bus bay and improved access to the school will greatly improve safety for students, teachers and other members of the community,” Mr Castles said.
Roadwork will be carried out next to the Oxley Highway between Ridge Street and Cole Road from 6am to 6pm Monday to Saturday. Work is expected to be completed by the end of January.
No significant delays to road users are expected, however motorists are asked to follow the direction of traffic control, reduced speed limits and signs while the work is carried out.
Mr Anderson said that this is another great example of collaboration between different tiers of Government, with the State Government and Tamworth Regional Council working together to construct the new bus bay facilities. I would like to congratulate and thank Peel High School for their efforts along with Roads and Maritime Services.
“I like to see construction, it means progress and this continued investment is just another example of our region getting its fair share,” Mr Anderson concluded.
